It was 1986 and I was living in an apartment dreaming of owning my own home. I believe I called the Nicolson Team and talked with Cindy after I received a mailout. I didn't realize it at the time but making that call to Cindy was a very important step and a lucky one at that.
I remember in purchasing my first house everything went smoothly; it often does when you have a good Agent. Everything was set; mortgage, lawyer, closing date - gave up my apartment - except for one thing, the CMHC Inspector. That's right, he decided to do his inspection 2 days before closing and reported that the firewall between the 2 units was not finished (bricked to the roof). Cindy got me access to the house through the Vendor and upon my inspection; it was finished. After a number of phone calls to the CMHC office I could not get in touch with the Inspector. Cindy tracked him down at home. How could we close on time of we needed to do repairs or get him to sign off? We were down to one day before closing. Realizing this possibility of not closing on the date, Cindy was so upset she actually cried and offered to let me, my wife and 2 children to live with her until things straightened out. Now that is personal and that is caring.
Anyway, we got the house on time as the Inspector said he just poked his head up the attic hatch and thought it wasn't finished.....
Needless to say, I made a new friend.
A couple of years later I became a landlord when Cindy showed me how I could buy a 2nd home with no money down and I did.
I attended Cindy and her husband Don's wedding and continued to use Cindy and Don to buy and sell. Really, with the power of 2 incredible agents, how could you lose?
I have now purchased and sold 9 houses with Cindy, Don and now daughter Alana, and I have never lost a dime on any of them. As it turned out I became a Home Inspector and am doing work helping Cindy, Don and Alana's clients by inspecting and finding out what issues, if any, their potential new homes may have and then advising them of our findings.
